About Ms. Herring

I have lived most of my life in Colorado, with the exception of attending American University in Washington, DC for a degree in International Relations and a semester spent studying in Prague, Czech Republic.  I earned my Masters at the University of Colorado - Denver in Secondary Social Studies, Curriculum and Instruction.  I worked in telecommunications before becoming a teacher - which I love a whole lot more!  Teaching using project-based learning and encouraging students to think for themselves is what I am all about.  I want students to feel like they have a voice in their education and a responsibility to take ownership of their learning.  I also want students to know how much I care about them - you can come see me about anything.

I am happy to meet with students during A lunch, or after school by appointment. I can provide help with studying, projects, homework, we can discuss graded work and/or assessments, or I can simply listen if you have a personal problem you would like some support in handling. 

I have taught at Cresthill for 13 years now and LOVE this school and its AWESOME students.  I am a Big Sister from the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program and have ridden in 12 bicycle rides to help fight MS.  I have three fiercely intelligent sisters and 5 adorable nieces and nephews.  I love to read all kinds of books and watch action and sci-fi movies.  I also love travel!  I have been to 24 countries on 5 of 7 continents.
